D.N.A. Discovering New Ancestry
January 10 - February 23, 2020
5 Points Art Gallery & Studios opens the year with two solo exhibitions showcasing sculptural manifestations of the self through ancestral identity. D.N.A. being used as an acronym for “Discovering New Ancestry” is a solo show featuring newly casted ceramic works surrounding Milwaukee-based artist and Cardinal Stritch University Ceramics Professor, Darrel Payne’s, genealogical discovery and break down based on his Ancestry.com report. Colorfully glazed archeologicalinspired masks, vessels, and busts reveal the artist’s surprising ancestral make-up as referenced by his genealogical report and creates conversation about the identities a person chooses to revere and suppress. Come pay regard to this uniquely-crafted ceramic sculptures revering transnational lineage.
D.N.A. is on display until February 23, 2020.
