Off The Wall
November 5 - December 19, 2021
WE ARE OFF THE WALL!
On Friday, November 5, 2021, guests were encouraged to leave the 9-to-5 on the shelf and come enjoy themselves with madness, music, and murals in 5 Points Art Gallery + Studios’ Off The Wall mural exhibition.
"Off The Wall" features six astounding BIPOC artists, who have been commissioned and given agency to express socially-focused messages through their public mural practices. Muralists have completed the murals onsite at 5 Points Art Gallery + Studios for the week leading up to and during the exhibition opening for an interactive, invigorating art experience for the artists and viewers. At the close of the exhibition term, on December 19, 2021, the completed murals will be permanently placed with various community-focused or social service-based organizations in Milwaukee, WI or around the nation.
Featured artists include: Anwar Floyd-Pruitt (Milwaukee, WI), Brad Anthony Bernard (Milwaukee, WI), Erik Salgado (Chicago, IL), Fatima Laster (Milwaukee, WI), Haerim Lee (b. South Korea, Chicago, IL), Kevin Boatright (Milwaukee, WI), Kierston Ghaznavi (Milwaukee, WI), Sam Kirk (Chicago, IL), and Vitus Shell (Monroe, LA).
The "Off The Wall" programming is dually focused on increasing the visibility, opportunity, and general equity for BIPOC muralists and while providing professional-quality, affordable, larger-scaled original art to underserved neighborhoods and community organizations to amplify their missions and environment. The murals will be completed in a manner to allow for interior or exterior display.
We are seeking neighborhood-centric, corporate sponsors to pair these magnificent art pieces with organizations in need of art. Please contact the gallery to learn the different avenues of providing financial support. Email 5pointsartgalleryandstudios@gmail.com or call (414) 988-4021 for more details.
Let’s get the art off the walls and into the community!
