Kings, Queens & Regal Beings

In his solo show and first exhibition in Wisconsin, Queens, Kings, And Regal Beings, Gannon Crutcher (East Orange, NJ), utilizes the delicate medium of watercolor with acrylic to broadcast imagery of strength, dignity and fashion couture through Mikinsi-inspired portraits. With faces referencing African ceremonial masks and sculptures, this collection of majestic iconographic portraits pose to reincarnate the spirits of these regal beings into the physical world, for which Crutcher has coined his “Spiritual Portraits”.
